Black Walnut Snowballs

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter, softened
• 1-1/4 cups sifted powdered sugar
• 3/4 cup finely chopped black walnuts
• 1 tablespoon water
• 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/3 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup butter, softened

Method

1. Beat butter, granulated sugar, water and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour and the nuts with a wooden spoon.
2. Now take the dough and Shape it into 3/4-inch balls. Place these balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake in a 325° F oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned.
4. Now put the powdered sugar in a plastic bag. While cookies are still warm, transfer two or three cookies at a time to the bag of powdered sugar.
5. Gently shake cookies in powdered sugar until coated. When completely cool, gently shake cookies again in powdered sugar.
